Prescription medication an evolving challenge for employers

Many employers aren't yet giving enough thought to employees' prescription medication use and how it might affect their workplace.

In light of increasing use of prescription drugs, it's important for employers to be managing this area effectively, and ensuring it's appropriately addressed in their policies and procedures, partner Renee Kasbarian says in a new HR Daily Premium Q&A.

"Medicinal marijuana is obviously on the increase, but there's probably other prescription drugs that employers don't necessarily think too much of, that can also potentially have impacts on employees and their ability to do their job," Renee explains.

"For example, steroids can be used for a lot of medical reasons too," she says.
